CLOSE ENOUGH TO PERFECT
Works for solo piano from composer Louis Anthony deLise
Louis writes:
I’ve wanted to make an album of solo piano pieces for a while
now, but every time I’ve tried, I would find myself adding
instruments: a cello here, an oboe there, and always, always
percussion! The impulse to add other instrumental parts is for me
predictable since I’ve worked my entire career as an arranger and
orchestrator (in addition to being a composer and performer).
Hearing stuff orchestrated is just what happens in my head!
CLOSE ENOUGH TO PERFECT is my first piano-only album. I invite
you to listen and hope you will enjoy!
Do let me know!

The American composer Louis Anthony deLise was born in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He moved with his family at age six to
rural Pennsylvania where he attended public schools and began
his music study. He studied jazz drumming as a youngster and
taught himself to play the piano by making up tunes and reading
through fake books at the family spinet.
Characterized by beautifully poignant melodies and the energy
and rhythmic potency of modern rock, deLise’s compositions
represent an amalgam of his work in the pop music and academic
concert music worlds.
Louis Anthony deLise earned a doctorate in composition at the
Boyer College of Music and Dance of Temple University in
Philadelphia where he was an Adjunct Lecturer teaching in the
Music Theory, Composition and Jazz studies departments.
