During the pandemic, when Robin’stour dates came to a halt, she
pivoted to live-streaming from her home Steinway with the help of her
husband/producer, Larry Kosson. These livestreams offered an
opportunity for connection and community, and as more and more
people tuned in to Robin’s unique 90 minute set, the show became
branded as“Robin’s Piano Bar.” The couple went from streaming using
iPhonesin 2020 to a HD 5-camera set up that now broadcasts on
Fridays on five platforms(Facebook, Bandcamp, LinkedIn, Youtube and
TwitchTV.) Robin has now performed 210 livestream concerts and

Steinway Artist Robin Spielberg has been hailed as one of America’s most popular contemporary female
pianists/composers. Spielberg is best known for her expressive piano performances and ability to connect and
engage with listeners. Now in the fourth decade of her recording and performance career, Robin is releasing her
23rd and 24th albums, “Downtown,” an album of nostalgic pop covers born from her 200+ piano concert
livestreams during the pandemic, and “By Way of the Wind,” a recording of fully orchestrated original works.
In March 2020, when the pandemic shut down the ability to tour, Robin and her husband pivoted to livestreaming from their home Steinway. As Robin puts it, “music smooths the rough edges of life. Finding a way to
connect with listeners was important to me and important for my own health.” The livestreams gave the couple a
creative outlet, and they began hosting original piano music sets as well as “piano bar” cover song sets. They
eventually grew to hosting the livestreams on five platforms with a 5-camera set up, and to date have done 212
livestream performances, and have never repeated a set. DOWNTOWN is the album that grew from these streams
as they represent 13 arrangements best-loved by listeners.
“I’ve always loved the title track. The lyrics are so optimistic!,” says Robin. “Things will be great when you’re
downtown’ right? I was playing this tune during the pandemic and unlike the bouncy quality that Petula Clark’s
version has, I felt wistful and yes, nostalgic about the good times. So this arrangement is quieter and more balladlike, but still filled with hope. Other songs I find simply beautiful, and I made sure to keep the arrangements
simple so the tune could speak for itself. “Fields of Gold” is an example of this “less is more” approach.”
Robin Spielberg has toured extensively throughout the United States, South Korea and China, where she is a
bonafide “piano star.” She has been featured in live performances on PBS, CBS Saturday Morning, ABC News,
Lifetime Live, and NPR, along with three sold out performances at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Concert Hall. In addition
to having several albums chart on Billboard, Robin’s music has over 200 million streams on Pandora Radio, the
world’s largest internet radio station, and more than 1/2 billion streams across all music platforms.
With interests in both theater and music, Spielberg earned a BFA in drama from New York University. As a
founding member of the Atlantic Theater Company, she has acted in dozens of off-Broadway plays, radio dramas,
and composed several theatrical scores and composed an off-broadway musical while building a career as one of
the premiere piano performers in New York.
Spielberg is the author of “Naked on the Bench: My Adventures in Pianoland,” which won the Reader’s Favorite
International Book Award contest for best memoir. The memoir demystifies the life of a touring artist with humor,
and gives readers an inside look of the sometimes-harsh realities of life on the road.
“Downtown” is Robin Spielberg’s 23rd album, and can be found on all major streaming platforms.
