Lis Addison


She writes and self-produces her own CD’s in her Singing Tree Studio.” Her CD “The Song of the Tree” debuted at #2 on the Zone Music Award Charts and along with “The Grace of the Green Leaf” is playing globally on Sirius, Comcast, XM Satellite, Pandora, Celtic Radio, the syndicated program Echoes, which plays on 175 NPR Stations and in dance, yoga and healing centers from Alaska to Zimbabwe. She has had favorable reviews in Spain, Italy, the UK, Holland, Canada, Mexico, Korea and Nationally in Conscious Dancer Magazine, Yoga Journal, the Zone Music Reporter, Health & Spirituality, Circles of Light, RajmanReviews, the LA Times and San Francisco Chronicle among others.  She is a Grant Recipient of Meet the Composer and a First Place Award winner from the Pacific Composers Forum.

A vocalist, keyboardist, percussionist, songwriter and composer, she is the creator of various “families” of healing chants or vocal patterns which she sets to music.  A skilled energy mover, Addison concentrates on creating music of lasting beauty that shifts consciousness and inspires and uplifts the listener. In-depth training and practice in the Shamanic and Yogic traditions have informed her art as well as certification as an Akashic Records Consultant. She offers group and solo sessions to assist others in not only producing accurate vocal resonance but also in counseling to assist in their spiritual growth.

“Miss Liss” holds a BA in Music Composition and Environmental Science and an MFA in Electronic Music from Mills College where she studied Western Classical Music, North Indian Raga Singing and the avant-garde, while cutting her teeth on popular music forms at night in her reggae band “The Magnets.”  Long hours spent practicing, studying and composing were interspersed with training in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Kathak, Yoga, African and Latin Dance and their cultural traditions.

Addison has performed at the DeYoung Museum, New Langton Arts, Via Montalvo, Power to the Peaceful, the Marin Arts Festival, and with Pablo Cruise and other rock, reggae and jazz bands in the San Francisco Bay Area and Hawaii.  She has performed at the World Festival of Sacred Music, Los Angeles Theater Center, At My Place and The Comeback Inn in LA, the Roxy in Chicago, the Staten Island Institute of the Arts in New York, and with the world musicians Brent Lewis, Daniel Paul, Ian Dogle, Jim Berenholz, Viviana Guzman & Onye Onyemaichi.”

She he has taught at JFK University, Mills College, Marin School of the Arts, The Bay School, The Athenian School, Conference for Science and Non-Duality, Sound and Consciousness Institute and the Goddess Temple in the UK and St. Joseph’s School in Tanzania.

Addison is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP), National Association of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS-Grammy Foundation) and Phi Beta Kappa. Her music is published by the Hildegarde Publishing Company and her own All Aglow Music Publishing Company. She is also a member of The Green Belt Movement, Roots & Shoots and Friends of the Urban Forest and makes tree-planting service trips to Kenya and Tanzania.
