‘Footsteps’ new single by Esbe in Peaceful Radio Show 1581

It’s a rare treat to hear Esbe on classical guitar and this is what makes the new single ‘Footsteps’ so special. This intriguing composition is from her 2024 album, ‘La Serenissima’, eleven musical reflections inspired by Esbe’s recent trip to explore the captivating city of Venice.
On her musical vignette, ‘Footsteps’, Esbe recorded and multi-tracked layers of her beautifully toned classical guitar. Building intrigue and suspense as the track unfolds, she has set the scene for empty canal reverberations of Venice at night. As Esbe says,
“’Footsteps’ is my musical interpretation of an evening stroll beside the Venetian canals. The eeriness and enveloping scenery could not be more filmic, and so I hope ‘Footsteps’ conjures up images from an old black and white film. With each hesitant guitar riff entry, a figure temporarily emerges, perhaps to silently observe a clandestine liaison.”
Esbe composed, performed and produced the track using one of her favourite ways of working: overlaying riffs and short phrases and then panning them across the stereo field. With a musically sketched plan, she took a sonic journey of discovery, enjoying the warmth and engaging tone of the classical guitar.
As Esbe says,
“I fell in love with the classical guitar when I was eleven, it has such delicate nuances of tone. It’s great to work with a real instrument alongside my own voice and the many sampled instruments and found sounds I’ve collected along the way. I considered adding other instruments on this track, but realised there was no need for anything else, my guitar said it all.”
On the new single ‘Footsteps’, it’s clear to see why Esbe won the prestigious Julian Bream Prize for Guitar whilst studying at London’s Royal Academy of Music. ‘Footsteps’ is the first beautiful single from Esbe’s new 2024 album, ‘La Serenissima’, and it sets the scene for an enchanting walk through the narrow streets, canals and iconic bridges and palaces of Venice.
‘Footsteps’ will be released through New Cat Music on February 02, 2024 and is the first single from Esbe’s new album ‘La Serenissima’ which is scheduled for an April release.
