‘Seasons Change’ new album by Alan Matthews in Peaceful Radio Show 1551

Breaking onto the instrumental music scene in 2017 with his acclaimed debut
release, The Ineffable, pianist Alan Matthews has since released two more
albums, all met with praise by fans and critics alike. Now, just one short year
after his third album, All That I Can See, comes Matthews’ most intensely
personal and most deeply felt recording, Seasons Change. Unlike his previous
three albums (all recorded at Imaginary Road Studios and produced and
engineered by the duo Will Ackerman and Tom Eaton), Matthews “stayed
home” and hired Michael Silverman to co-produce the album. In explaining
the how and why for Seasons Change, Matthews wrote “‘All That I Can See’
was the end of music that HAD to be recorded… music whose essence was
from an earlier me… part of the journey that HAD to be expressed… with a few
pieces that begin to express the present moment… and music I WANT to
make. What I didn’t anticipate is my artistic self so quickly having ideas that I
wanted to explore & express… I suspect a new brighter piano & much closer
studio added to this sense of musical freedom… yes, SEASONS do CHANGE …
and I embraced it and discovered some piano music I really love.”
Alan Matthews is on the brink of achieving stardom in the well-populated solo
piano genre. Give Seasons Change a listen and see if you don’t agree!

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Alan Matthews for seven years. I watched
him evolve as a player and as a composer and regard him as one of the truly
bright lights in contemporary pianists on the scene today. Seasons Change
offers yet another evolution in his already remarkable career. If you’re already a
fan, you’ll be delighted with this new release, and if you’re finding him for the
first time, you’ll be introduced to a brilliant musician whose recordings will
become a joyful part of your musical world.”
Will Ackerman, Grammy-winning artist and producer and founder of
Windham Hill Records

“Seasons Change is not just the most impressive
release from this talented artist, but it’s obvious upon
the first playing that both his composing and
performing has matured to a deep level of evocative
and reflective artistry. This album is one of the most
personal and intimate piano recordings I’ve heard over
the last two or three years.”
