‘Timeless’ new album by David W. Donner at Peaceful Radio Internet Station

David W Donner is a guitarist and multi-instrumental composer of New Age style music. He was
shaped by literally all styles of music, bringing a unique blend of influences to his compositions. His
arrangements usually center around guitar parts, layered with synth and percussive elements, but
sometimes feature other instruments, such as piano or strings. David’s studies included classical,
acoustic (modern fingerstyle) and electric guitar, as well as piano. Before focusing on composition
as a solo artist, he played with a number of indie-rock bands. His solo work has been charted on
Zone Music Reporter and One World Music Radio.
David’s first memories of music were, as a young child, circling the living room on a Big Wheel while
popular music of the 60’s and 70’s emitted from his parents’ sound system. When first learning to
play and write music, he used it as a form of therapy, to cope with life’s many difficulties, which
included growing up with an adverse neurological condition. He now says: “Music has helped me
heal, through a lot of hard times. My hope is that others will find peace and healing through the
music I create.”
Over two decades ago, I began the journey of recording my own
music. Though I had already played in bands, been recorded, and
written music, I had always felt at the mercy of other people’s
creative visions. So, I purchased what was—at the time—cutting
edge computer-based digital recording equipment, and began
putting my ideas together.
One of the first projects I did, included the song I call Grounded.
Though the composition itself was solid, I was still learning to use
said equipment, and so, the demo was poorly recorded and
produced. It was shelved for many years, and during that time, I
continued to figure out the ins and outs of self-producing,
eventually also realizing how to effectively collaborate with other
producers (enter Mr. Cass Anawaty.) Until then, there were many
shouts of “why can’t I make this sound like it does in my head?”
All the while, in the back of my mind, was the thought I should
redo that Grounded song. Yet always, I thought it would sound
dated, or, brushed it off as something I had already tried. When I
finally did, however, the new recording turned out sounding as
fresh as it had the first time, though a much-improved version!
What’s more, tapping in to the same vibe (of that first project) led
to a complete album, borne from all those youthful ideas and
vigor, and possessing more of my own musical voice than any
project I have done so far. Seeing the span of time involved,
naming this album was easy. From then to now, it always had to
be… Timeless.
