After five successful original albums, Timothy Crane presents his latest recording, Under the Sun, which showcases pieces that inspired – and continue to inspire – him to play and record piano music. The selections on this album, although written by others, have elements similar to Tim’s own compositional method and lend themselves well to instrumental piano arrangements, with detailed orchestral accompaniments that provide the cinematic sound to which listeners have become accustomed in Tim’s previous works, such as Halo and Dragonfly Re Grabado. Like those earlier albums, Under The Sun contains a variety of distinct pieces that vary between fast and slow, soft and loud, contemplative and uplifting. Timothy Crane is a composer, arranger, and instrumental musician who writes, records, and performs music featuring piano and orchestra. His first five original albums have all received critical praise and been played in several countries, resulting in each climbing to one of the top-three places as measured by the Zone Music Reporter. His current album, Under the Sun, includes 15 pieces that, although written by others, have played important roles in inspiring Tim to play the piano throughout his life. Living in Golden, Colorado, USA, he often draws on the beauty and majesty of nature and the Rocky Mountains to inspire his pieces. The orchestration is complex and painstaking, and yet it is vital to listeners hoping to experience the totality of the grandeur that Tim sees not only in his mind, but also out his window.
